Fault codes / P0087
P0087 means actual rail pressure is below the ECU target. Same story as SPN 157 FMI 1 on Weichai scanners. Most field cases are filters and suction air, not a dead pump.
Which trucks see it
Howo A7/T7H, Shacman, Sitrak, engines WD615, WP10–WP13, sometimes MC11.
Symptoms
- no pull on a hill
- black smoke
- power derate
- hard start
Likely causes
- Clogged fine filter / separator. Database lists VG1540080010 for that cause — confirm on the truck.
- Air leak on suction, empty tank.
- HP pump or metering valve weak.
- Leak on rail or injector returns.
What to check
- Drain separator, replace fine filter, prime.
- Watch clear hoses for bubbles.
- Compare desired vs actual rail pressure.
- Then injector return test / pump — not replace-all.
Can you keep driving
Limp home without full load. If it dies on the road or sprays fuel, stop.
