Fault codes / P0480
SAE P0480 is fan 1 control. Weichai scanners often show internal P00F7–P00FA or P0103 — type the factory code. Do not mix with P0217 (already overheated).
Which trucks see it
WP10–WP13 on Howo/Shacman, some WP7/WP6. Viscous, electric clutch or PWM — by year.
Symptoms
- fan dead or always on
- temp climb in traffic
- MIL
- internal Weichai fan codes on screen
Likely causes
- Need the internal Weichai code — OBD2 is a family label.
- Open/corroded clutch solenoid plug.
- Failed solenoid, clutch, relay or fan.
- Bad ground at the radiator loom.
What to check
- Read the factory code, not only OBD2.
- Does the fan engage hot.
- Power at the solenoid.
- If coolant is already red — see P0217. No invented clutch OEM.
Can you keep driving
If temperature is normal — limp to a shop. If it climbs — stop, same as P0217.
