Fault codes / P0088
Actual rail pressure is above the ECU target. Not a harmless inverse of P0087: high pressure splits pipes. Weichai scanners may show internal P01EC/P01ED/P01F3 for the same family — type what is on the screen. Do not mix with P0193 (sensor circuit high).
Which trucks see it
WP10–WP13, MC11/MC13 on Howo, Shacman, Sitrak. Bosch common-rail: rail, end sensor, pressure regulator, return to tank.
Symptoms
- MIL / derate
- harsh injection knock
- wet rail fittings
- actual rail pinned high
Likely causes
- Stuck rail or pump regulator.
- Blocked / frozen regulator return.
- Sensor reading high — after the return is proven open.
- Debris after an HP-pump swap.
What to check
- Do not rev to 'test'.
- Check regulator return flow.
- See if rail falls after shutdown.
- Then sensor circuit. No invented OEM.
Can you keep driving
Only to a safe place, no load. Fuel spray or climbing pressure — tow. Do not treat it like P0087.
